Hackers halt Kenya’s e-visa issuance, travelers served upon arrival
The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs advised visitors to Kenya to process their visas upon arrival due to portal issues.
On Thursday, July 27, the ministry said visas will be provided at entry points and airlines should board Kenya-bound passengers.
“The government’s e-Citizen platform is having issues processing e-visas. Thus, all Kenyan entrance ports will provide visas to visitors.
Eliud Owalo, Information, Communication, and Digital Economic Cabinet Secretary, verified the platform issue previously.
Attacks occurred. “We will build an elaborate risk mitigation framework,” Owalo told Spice FM.
Kenyans reported problems using e-Citizen earlier in the week, raising concerns of a cyberattack.
The portal provides over 5,000 government services from ministries, counties, and agencies.
