Minet, a leading insurance broker and risk advisor, is looking for a Compliance Officer to join its Legal & Compliance division. As a Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing compliance programs, policies and procedures.
You will also work closely with other departments to address compliance related matters and provide guidance on compliance requirements for new projects, initiatives and business relationships.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
A Bachelor of Law Degree (or equivalent) from a recognized University.
Admission to the Bar as an Advocate.
Relevant professional qualifications such as certified compliance & ethics professional are an added advantage.
Proven experience (1-2 years) in compliance within a financial services sector.
Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations and industry standards.
Brilliant oral and written communication skills.
Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.
Ethical and principled approach to assignments.
Ability to set goals and strive to achieve them with enthusiasm and determination.
Ability to look at different ways to solve problems and address difficulties.
Some of your duties and responsibilities will include:
Staying up to date with industry laws, regulations and guidelines that affect our operations. Interpreting and communicating these requirements to relevant stakeholders, ensuring compliance in all business activities.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to create and update compliance policies, procedures and guidelines.
Identifying potential compliance risks within the organization and assessing their impact. Developing strategies to mitigate risks and implement effective controls.
Conducting training sessions to educate employees on compliance related matters. Fostering a culture of awareness and adherence to compliance standards throughout the organization.
Designing and executing regular compliance audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls. Analyzing findings and recommending corrective actions as needed.
Preparing comprehensive reports on compliance activities, including audit results, risk assessments and policy violations.
Leading or assisting in investigations of suspected compliance violations, ethics concerns or irregularities. Ensuring thorough and objective investigations are conducted and appropriate actions are taken.
Overseeing data privacy and security compliance efforts ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act 2019 and other relevant regulations. Ensuring that the organization’s data handling practices adhere to legal requirements.
