A 45-year-old man was brutally murdered by his lover’s teenage sons after he visited her at her home in Embu county on Sunday night. The man, identified as John Mwangi, had been in a relationship with the 50-year-old woman, a single mother of four, for about a year. He had travelled from Nairobi to see her and insisted on spending the night at her house.
However, the woman’s sons, aged 19 and 17, were not happy with their mother’s affair and confronted Mwangi. They accused him of disrespecting their family and demanded that he leave immediately. A heated argument ensued and turned violent when the sons attacked Mwangi with firewood. They hit him several times on the head and chest, leaving him unconscious.
The woman tried to intervene and stop the fight, but she was overpowered by her sons. She then ran to the neighbours and alerted them of the incident. The neighbours rushed to the scene and found Mwangi lying in a pool of blood. They called the police and an ambulance, but it was too late. Mwangi was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
The police arrested one of the sons and took him to Embu police station for questioning. The other son managed to escape and is still at large. The police are also looking for the woman, who disappeared after the incident. The motive behind the killing is still unclear, but the police suspect that it was a case of jealousy and resentment.
The incident has shocked the residents of Embu, who described Mwangi as a friendly and hardworking man. They said that he was a businessman who dealt with electronics and often visited Embu to supply his goods. They also said that he was generous and helped many people in the area.
The body of Mwangi has been taken to Embu mortuary awaiting postmortem. The police have launched a manhunt for the other suspects and urged anyone with information to come forward. They have also warned people to be careful about their relationships and avoid getting involved in love triangles that could end up tragically.
