Minimum SHIF Monthly Contribution For All Employed and Unemployed Kenyans

Important modifications to the minimum monthly contribution to the Social Health Insurance Fund for all employed and unemployed Kenyan citizens have been unveiled by the government of Kenya.

The Kenyan government announced today, February 6, 2024, through the Ministry of Health, an outstanding decrease in the monthly contributions that both employed and unemployed Kenyan citizens will be allowed to make to the Social Health Insurance Fund.

The Kenyan government has revealed details of the recently institutionalized Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) monthly premium. It has been revealed that Ksh300, instead of Ksh500, will be required from both employed and unemployed Kenyan citizens.

The Kenyan government has also hinted that everyone living in Kenya will be covered by the recently established Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), stating that this includes wealthy, old, and employed members of the country’s population.

“The monthly minimum premium payment was lowered from Ksh500 to Ksh300. Coverage for all Kenyans, rich or poor, working or unemployed. There will be no exclusions from Heth cover, the government hinted.
