President William Ruto has pledged to fund all higher education scholarships
Ruto Assures University Students
The Head of State announced on Saturday, July 22, 2023, in Vihiga, where he was commissioning the Vihiga Last Mile Water Supply Project in Mbale, Sabatia Constituency, that his administration has reached a deal with education stakeholders to provide full scholarships to college students.
“Watoto wenu ambao wanaenda kwa technical training college na wenye wanaenda university, tumekua na shida kubwa kwamba mauniveristy wako ya madeni. Hio madeni nimeketi chini na vice chancellors wote na tumekubaliana mfumo mpya ya kuhakikisha ya kwamba watoto wetu wakienda university wanapata scholarship.
“Tunabadilisha sio grant tena kwa university in scholarship kwa kila mwanafunzi ndo tuhakikishe mtoto wa mama mboga, boda boda na mtu ambaye yuko chini tunampatia 100 percent scholarship, mtoto wangu na musalia tunawapatia scholarship ya 20 ama 30 percent,” he remarked.
The President also promised to improve education and educate all children. Ruto said the government has invested billions in education to make learning easier for everyone.
“We’ll make sure every child who goes to school learns,” he said.
The president also vowed to cut fertilizer prices to lower food prices.
The government plans to decrease fertilizer prices from Ksh3,500 to Ksh2,500.
“Unga haitoki kwa soko, inatoka shamba. Kama unataka kutatua shambani. Ata ukieka sufuria? ni upuzi. Ndo niliwaambia tutapunguza gharama ya mbolea mbegu. Mbolea mlikua mnanunua na elfu saba nimerudisha mpaka elfu tatu mia tano hio 3,500 bado nitapunguza mpaka 2,500 after two weeks.”
