TSC Examines the Following Counties’ Teachers’ Retirement Age Increase
Retirement age is raised by TSC. Retired teachers in the counties of the North Eastern region received contract letters from the Teachers Employer.
The Commission welcomed educators who had attained the 60-year legal retirement age in May.
Dr. Nancy Macharia, CEO of TSC, stated in a press statement dated May 18, 2023,
“This mass retirement will exacerbate the already severe teacher shortage in the region brought on by the recent departure of non-local teachers.”
THE AREAS WHERE TSC WILL INCREASE THE RETIRED AGE
The Commission will employ retired educators from the region on a three-year contract and grant them an additional three years of retirement once they reach the legal retirement age as payment.
Since the majority of teachers, especially foreigners, don’t like working there, TSC boss gives the northern region first priority when changing retiring instructors.
FATE OF AN INTERN TEACHER
If they want letters, all teachers in these counties who have reached retirement age must immediately send their details to the TSC county offices.
Intern teachers will receive letters transferring them on a permanent and pensionable basis to these regions as soon as the government passes the budget.
Retirement age is raised by TSC
There are 22 head teachers in Kisumu County whose contracts have been extended.
The principal of Migingo Primary School in Nyando Sub-County is Mr. Joshua Osawa.
The principal of Matthews Ondiek Primary School in Kisumu Central is Mrs. Pamela Juma.
The principal of Kindu RC Primary School in Kisumu East is Mr. Tom Onyando.
For the longest time, Mr. Paul Kaunda served as the principal of Kosawo Primary School in Kisumu Central.
At the age of 60, teachers are required to retire from their positions.
TSC now extended the retirement age for teachers in arid and semi-arid regions by three years.
