According to Cecilia Mutua, the Central Regional TSC Quality and Standards Officer, the commission would only advance teachers who reside in counties within the Central Region in the next fourth promotion exercise for teachers.
When non-resident teachers apply for promotions later, she claims that some of them request to be relocated back to their home counties.
According to Mutua, we would be very strict about only promoting locals because if we promote teachers, they will return to their home counties, leaving us with the added task of replacing them.
According to Mutua, the commission would hire JSS and primary school teachers in accordance with the same standards, giving locally registered teachers preference over overseas applicants.
She extended an invitation to Central area registered teachers to apply for the openings.
To ensure the smooth functioning of the institutions and the provision of high-quality education, Mutua further emphasized that the commission has sufficient primary and secondary school heads on staff.
Mutua made a commitment that the TSC would continue to try to reduce the prevalence of understaffing in the educational institutions of the Central Region while speaking at Kinango Secondary School as part of Nyandarua County Education Day.
The Central Region is made up of the counties of Kiambu, Muranga, Kirinyaga, and Nyandarua.

She also used the occasion to urge all Central Region Governors to ensure that all ECDE Teachers are registered by TSC before they are engaged by the County Governments in order to uphold the high standards of the teaching profession.
The occasion was attended by the governor of the Nyandarau County, Kiarie Badilisha, a senator, MPS members, the director of education for the Nyandarau County, Philip Wambua, the director of the Nyandarau TSC, Tom Akal, as well as representatives from KNUT and KUPPET.
