What to Expect When Called For an Interview

Kenya Power and Lighting Company is one of the biggest employers in Kenya.

1. Driver

As a driver at Kenya power, you can drive technicians to various locations to do their installations, repairs and maintenance.

Salary

Between Ksh 50, 000 and Ksh 80,000 gross. This mainly depends on your competency and the number of years you’ve worked in the company.

General Requirements

  • KCSE Certificate
  • Valid Class BC1C Driving License
  • Certificate of good conduct
  • Cross-cultural and interpersonal skills

2. Loader and Off loader

Kenya Power has hundreds of warehouses across the country that store meters, cables, transformers and other valuable items.

These things have to be loaded into trucks and moved from one place to other.

Loaders are responsible for loading and offloading these items.

Salary range

Salary range (Ksh 30, 000 to Ksh 50, 000)

General Requirements

  • Form four certificate
  • Certificate of good conduct
  • Ability to deal with the physical demands of the job

3. Meter Reader

The work of a meter reader is to read electricity meter in your designated area.

You’ll also be required to inspect meters and connections and report any illegal connections to KPLC.

Salary range

Ksh 30,000 and Ksh 50, 000

General requirements

  • KCSE D+ (plus)
  • Motorcycle riding license
  • Driving license
  • Certificate of good conduct
  • Identity Card
  • At least one year of experience in riding and driving
  • Good communication and client-handling skills

4. Security Officer

A security officer guards Kenya Power property from theft and damage.

Salary range

Ksh 25, 000 to Ksh 54, 000

General Requirements

  • Form four leaver with at least a mean grade of D Plus
  • Must be a Kenyan citizen
  • Must be 23 years and above
  • Must have an Identity Card
  • Must have a valid certificate of good conduct
  • Prior experience as a security officer is an added advantage.
